The Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall (SFCM) hosts a wide variety of programming opportunities for its visitors that are provided by many different departments. A majority of the programming comes from the three main inhabitants of the SFCM, which include Campus Recreation, Health Promotion and Wellness, and the School of Kinesiology and Recreation.
Campus Recreation
While Campus Recreation provides events and programs at several facilities throughout campus, the Student Fitness Center and McCormick Hall serves as the base of operations, including the home for several programming opportunities.
Group Fitness
Campus Recreation offers group fitness classes in a variety of different formats throughout each day, as well as several group fitness special events.Climbing Wall
Run by the Campus Recreation Outdoor Adventure program, the climbing wall is located in the heart of the SFCM. The climbing wall provides belay times with staff as well as opportunities to learn how to climb with a partner through one of our many belay workshops.Employment
Campus Recreation has many opportunities for students to work at the SFCM as well as in other areas on campus.
Health Promotion and Wellness
The role of Health Promotion and Wellness at Illinois State is to advance the health and wellness of all members of the Illinois State community. The department will be providing a variety of important health information at the SFCM through its many initiatives.
Kinesiology and Recreation
The School of Kinesiology and Recreation hosts a majority of academic classes in the SFCM, including several Active for Life classes that can help participants stay healthy and gain fundamental knowledge about a variety of physical activities and sports. In addition, the Fitness Assessment Program can provide a variety of comprehensive health screenings and assessments for students, faculty/staff and community members.
