Membership Types

Student

All fee paying students are automatically considered members of the Student Fitness Center.  Students in the English Language Institute are eligible to purchase a membership at the faculty/staff rate.  This membership affords the student member the following privileges during posted hours of operation:

  • Access to the entire Student Fitness Center including use of equipment, and participation of programs and services offered.
  • Privilege of sponsoring up to two guests per day at the daily guest fee of $10.
  • Eligibility to participate in all programs offered by Campus Recreation.
  • Discounted rates for selected programs offered by Campus Recreation.

A Stop-Out Membership is designed for Illinois State students who sit out for one semester and meet the following criteria:

  1. must have been enrolled the previous semester before sitting out; and
  2. must be enrolled for the semester following the lay off period.

Lay off semester may be the fall, spring or summer. Proof of previous semester and following semester enrollment must be produced at time of purchase.

 
Faculty/Staff

Faculty or staff employees who have a valid Redbird Card card are eligible to purchase a Student Fitness Center membership.  To purchase a membership, the employee must present his/her valid Redbird Card to the Member Services Associate.  The faculty/staff ID card will be used to validate membership to facilitate access into the facility.  Members of the Senior Professionals group at Illinois State enjoy the same rate structure as current faculty/staff.  Visiting faculty/staff are also eligible to purchase a membership utilizing payroll deduction only.

Employees are encouraged to have their membership fees assessed via payroll deduction by completing the necessary paperwork at the time of purchase.  Payroll deduction may also be used to assess fees for spouse/domestic partner memberships.  This membership affords the faculty/staff member the following privileges during posted hours of operation:

  • Access to the entire Student Fitness Center including use of equipment, and participation of programs and services offered.
  • Privilege of sponsoring up to two guests per day at the daily guest fee of $10.
  • Eligibility to participate in programs offered by Campus Recreation.
  • Discounted rates for selected programs offered by Campus Recreation.

 

Annuitant (Retiree)

Annuitants of Illinois State University who have a valid university Emeritus/Retired ID card are eligible to purchase a Student Fitness Center membership. To purchase a membership, the annuitant must present his/her Emeritus/Retired ID card to the Member Services Associate.  The ID card will be used to validate membership to facilitate access into the facility.

Annuitant must pay for membership via cash, check, or credit card at the time of purchase.  This membership affords the annuitant member the following privileges during posted hours of operation:

  • Access to the entire Student Fitness Center including use of equipment, and participation of programs and services offered.
  • Privilege of sponsoring up to two guests per day at the daily guest fee of $10.
  • Eligibility to participate in programs offered by Campus Recreation.
  • Discounted rates for selected programs offered by Campus Recreation.

Note:  If an annuitant does not have a valid Emeritus/Retired ID card, they must go the Redbird Card Office located on the second floor in the Bone Student Center to receive a valid card.  There is no charge to get this card.

 

ISU Graduate

Illinois State University graduates are eligible to purchase a Student Fitness Center membership.  To purchase a membership, the graduate should visit the Welcome Center in the main lobby of the Student Fitness Center.  Graduates must show proof of identification to the Member Services Associate at time of purchase.  If the graduate has kept his or her student Redbird Card, this card can be activated and used as the membership card.  If the graduate no longer has this card, a permanent membership card will be issued.  Either card is required to enter the facility.

Spouse/Domestic Partner of Members

Spouses/Domestic Partners of faculty/staff, annuitant, ISU Graduate, and Student members are eligible to purchase a Student Fitness Center membership.  The sponsor must be a member of the Student Fitness Center for the spouse/domestic partner to be eligible to purchase a membership.  The sponsoring member must be present in order for the spouse/domestic partner to purchase a membership and both parties must show proof of shared residency to the Member Services Associate.  Examples of proof of residency documents include:  current utility bill, lease agreement, voided personal check, driver’s license or other government issued ID with address noted, current bank statement, and current tuition bill.   A domestic partner must present a completed Domestic Partner Benefits Declaration form to the Member Services Associate at the time of purchase.  Spouse/Domestic Partner eligibility is withdrawn if the university sponsor is no longer a member.  If the Spouse/Domestic Partner has a Redbird Card, the Redbird Card will be used to validate the membership.  If not, a permanent membership card will be issued and will be required to enter the facility.

Spouses/Domestic Partners of faculty/staff members may choose to do a payroll deduction of their membership with sponsor approval.  All other spouses/domestic partners must pay for membership via cash, check, or credit card at the time of purchase.  This membership affords the spouse/domestic partner member the following privileges during hours of operation:

  • Access to the entire Student Fitness Center including use of equipment, and participation of programs and services offered.
  • Privilege of sponsoring up to two guests per day at the daily guest fee of $10.
  • Eligibility to participate in programs offered by Campus Recreation.
  • Discounted rates for selected programs offered by Campus Recreation.

 

Member Guest Pass

All Student Fitness Center members are eligible to sponsor up to two guests per day at the daily guest fee of $10.  The following guidelines are required:

  • Guest passes can be purchased at the Welcome Center, located in the entrance of the facility.
  • Guests must present a government issued photo ID, preferably driver’s license at the Welcome Center and sign an Informed Consent before entering the facility.
  • Guest must be at least 18 years of age.
  • The member/sponsor must accompany the guest while using the facility, including re-entry.
  • Guest passes entitle non-members to access the SFC on the day issued only.
  • Guest passes are non-transferable and non-refundable.
  • To re-enter facility, the guest must present government issued photo ID, receipt, and be accompanied by the same member/sponsor.  Member Services Associate will verify re-entry.
  • Guest is not permitted to check out any equipment.  All equipment must be checked out by sponsor who is responsible for the equipment return and any damages incurred.
  • Member/sponsor assumes full responsibility for all actions and behaviors of their guests and must accompany them at all times.
  • Campus Recreation reserves the right to refuse admittance and remove any guest from the facility for inappropriate behavior.


University Guest Pass

Departments or other campus-sponsored conferences may purchase guest passes on an individual basis, by either of the following methods:

  • Departments may send a list of attendees (of a meeting/course they are sponsoring) to Campus Recreation. The list will be posted at the Welcome Center where visitors whose name appears on the list may purchase the daily pass upon showing a photo ID.
  • Departments who wish to pay for their attendees' recreation privileges may send a list of attendees to the Senior Associate Director. Daily passes will be issued for each guest for the period specified by the department. Campus Recreation will then forward an invoice for the total amount due for the passes to the department.
