• The lobby of the Student Fitness Center serves as a welcoming area for all visitors.
• At the center of the Student Fitness Center, the Welcome Center is a one-stop source of information and activity. Register for activity classes, pay for your intramural team, or purchase memberships or guest passes at this station. Need to borrow equipment during your visit? The Welcome Center features a full line of sports equipment including basketballs, volleyballs, and indoor soccer balls. Members can even check out a Frisbee or other outdoor equipment to be used on the front lawn. The lobby area will also include space for members to sit and relax with friends after a challenging workout. With Wi-Fi access throughout the building, members can always stay connected.
• The Student Fitness Center will also be home to the newest dining venue on campus, Jamba Juice. Jamba Juice features made-to-order smoothies, perfect for a boost before or after a workout. Additional items will be available as well. Redbird dollars are accepted at this dining venue.

• Standing at 47 feet tall with over 900 square feet of climbing surface, the climbing wall is the focal point of the main lobby of the Student Fitness Center. The climbing wall looks, feels and behaves like real rock with routes for every skill level, including traditional handholds for beginners and natural ledges and crevices for advanced climbers.
• Belay classes will be offered to those who wish to learn to climb the wall with a partner. Staff belay times will be available to those who want to climb the wall without a partner. Equipment such as helmets, harnesses and shoes are available for checkout. The climbing wall is also available for reservation and team building programming.

There are a total of four comfortable locker room areas for both men and women in the Student Fitness Center. Each locker room has both daily lockers and those that are reserved on a semester or annual basis for a fee. Those reserving lockers will have a pre-assigned lock. Locks are available for FREE checkout on a daily basis, but must be returned by the end of each day of operations. Locks can be used in the locker rooms or on any of the day locker areas throughout the building. Locker room features include:

• Quick-changing area at the entrance for those need no other lockerroom support
• Individual showers with individual changing spaces attached for more privacy
• Suitmate swim suit dryers to quickly dry wet suits
• ADA lockers, showers and restrooms
• Direct access to the wet corridor for the pool
• For those who need more privacy or may have special needs, private changing spaces are available near the locker room entrance

• This classroom is available for university-wide scheduling and seats 40.

• This classroom is available for university-wide scheduling and seats 30.

• This 30-person computer lab is one of two being used by KNR students.

This is the medium sized of the three studios in the Student Fitness Center, holding approximately 40 participants depending on the class type. It will be home to KNR classes during the day with additional special event and non-credit programming offered at other times. The room features a floating wood floor, ceiling fans for circulation and a multi-speaker stereo system.

This is the second and larger KNR computer lab. This 55-person lab features technology that allows for anatomy and physiology instruction and group analysis of teaching techniques.

Open lap and recreational swimming is available to members of the Student Fitness Center. The lap component consists of four lanes that are 25 yards long. Water basketball and volleyball are also available in the leisure areas of the pool. Pool depth ranges from 3 to 3.5 feet. In addition, water exercise classes will be offered, adding yet another dimension to a strength and cardio workout. Classes for KNR will also be offered during specified hours.

Three multi-purpose sport courts are featured in the gymnasium area. Two have wood flooring and can be utilized for basketball, volleyball and badminton. One has a synthetic surface and a dasher board system, making it ideal for indoor soccer and floor hockey. The space will be shared between KNR and Campus Recreation as it is home of KNR classes during the week. One court will always be available for basketball during all operating hours and specialized hours for volleyball, badminton and soccer will be scheduled depending on the interests of our participants.

• The purpose of the Exercise Physiology and Fitness Laboratories is to provide knowledge and experience through hands-on learning to undergraduate and graduate students within physical education, athletic training, exercise science, and other related fields. These experiences are provided through class activities, out-of-class projects, student research, and faculty research efforts.
• Additionally, the Exercise Physiology and Fitness Laboratories promote health and fitness through the physical fitness assessment program where students, faculty and community people can receive comprehensive health screening assessments with consultations on how to interpret and implement healthy lifestyles and behaviors.
• The first space you enter is known as the Fit Lab. The room is be filled with Cardio machines to allow for gathering information about lung function and oxygen consumption. There are TV’s on the wall for those working out.
• This space also includes an area that is used primarily for weight training and strength research as well as an area that will be used for personalized research and graduate research activities. The space also includes an underwater weighing tank to assist in body composition assessments. Other highlights of this area is a room for the Bod Pod as well as an Exercise Physiology Classroom to be used for group analysis of research, a critical component to the “hands on” learning process.

• The Biomechanics Lab is used for research and laboratory experiences by graduate and undergraduate students. Multiple research projects supervised by faculty from biomechanics and athletic training are conducted in the lab at the same time, and some aspects of research by other faculty in KNR use the same space.
• Space has the design it does due to the nature of the research. Infrared cameras and other special technology allow for analysis of running stride or pitching technique (as two options)

The first floor contains an area for cardio and strength training a variety of equipment in approximately 4,000 square feet of space. KNR classes will be held in this room during the day, with availability for general use when classes are not being held. Individual televisions are featured on many of the cardio machines, with additional flat screen televisions posted throughout the space. This area provides a variety of equipment that is accessible for those with disabilities. Members of our student team will be available to offer basic instruction on the use of any piece of equipment.
